Eco-friendly Shoes for a Smart and Green Attire

The shoe industry can be labeled as one of the most toxic industries in the planet. The leather involved not only takes the lives of many poor animals but the processes of leather-tanning are highly toxic as well. So it is imperative to do our bit and turn to eco-friendly shoes for a healthier and safer environment.
Previously, people had limited choices regarding such corporate shoes or eco-friendly footwear and they were not so easily available. But since many companies have woken up to the facts, the choices have become unlimited and easily available. Shoes of almost any styles are available and not only simple plain flats or pumps. They are made of materials like natural latex, rubber, hemp, spandex, faux leather, and organic cotton and recycled materials. Recycled materials may include pet plastic, rubber from old tyres and even wood for clog-style shoes instead of using fresh new wood by salvaging them from old buildings. Some factories are now using better methods to cure the tan and use no harmful chemicals like harsh chemical solvents, toxic glues, PVC, petroleum products, etc. They even use recycled and green products for the packaging.
Many may hesitate in buying since there is a myth that there are expensive but unless you are opting for a few expensive brands, nothing can be further from the truth and they are very comfortable as well.
However, before buying these shoes you must do a little research on which of the companies and designers really are eco-friendly because although many claim so, few actually abide by what they say.
