A few rules about what should you wear to a job interview
When we talk about company apparel, we take into account not only the business clothing that you wear to office everyday but also that clothing which you should wear to your job interview. If you are really serious about getting a good job, then it is better to keep a few things in mind. The aim is to create an amazing first impression, which can work wonders more often than not. These rules have become quite common in the corporate world and are referred to as “dress for success.”
Firstly, whatever business clothing you wear, don’t forget to include a suit. You can wear suit with pants or skirt, but a business suit is a must. If you are wearing a shirt underneath the suit, make sure the shirt is either white or of some other light color. Shirts with vertical stripes are preferred more as they mirror the male dominated business culture.
The second rule is all about shoes. Never go for open toed shoes or sandals. If you are uncomfortable with very high heels, then avoid it. You should be able to walk properly. Close toed shoes having moderate heels are your best options.
Thirdly, you should always be careful not to wear anything that can send wrong signals to the interviewers. Your company apparel reflects your taste and speaks a lot about you.
Fourthly, avoid wearing anything that is too loose or something in which you are so comfortable that it reflects on your attitude. It often sends wrong message to interviewers that you lack in discipline and that you are self-indulgent. Denim shorts, loose sweaters, jogging suits are a strict no-no.
Fifthly, be careful about the color you choose. Stay away from bold shades like orange, red or green. Blue, gray, beige are the safest colors to be worn to an interview.
