Make the most of a business suit

A business suit constitutes an important part of the workwear. In any kind of business situation, be it a party, conference or office, business suits give you a polished look that exudes a professional vibe. Wearing suit as workwear gives you a self confidence that helps you work better and command attention easily.

Your looks talk a great deal not only about you but also about your company. Neither will you want a bad representation of yourself, nor will the firm want a misrepresentation of itself. So the right kind of business apparel is very important.

You can choose from a variety of business apparels depending on your shape and size. Color is another important deciding factor. Some basic colors that are favorable for suits are jet black, gray, blue and other solid colors. Another type of suit that is very popular among office goers are pinstriped suits. They make one look slim and tall. Venturing suits of unusual colors is acceptable for women but men must stay away from them.

Appropriate ties and shirts complement business suits in perfect ways. Ties with small patterns or solid colors go best with professional suits. Another critical component of a smart business suit is jacket style. Single-breasted two button jackets are most popular among professionals. In this context, it is important to mention that styles of jacket and suit keep updating with time. So one must know about the latest fashion trends and change accordingly.

Fit of the business suit is extremely important. The right business clothes will make you feel comfortable in every business occasion and make your life somewhat easier.

Vests as a part of your office attire

It is true that suits are an important part of the business clothing. But it is equally true that you might not always like to wear a suit. It could also be true that you are spared the trouble of wearing a business suit to your office daily because your company is not very strict about dress code. In such cases, vests are great to be worn to office as part of workwear. They not only look good in professional ambience but also add a lot of variety to your wardrobe. They are also ideal business clothing to be worn in the summer season when suits stop being your best friend. Suits are really uncomfortable during the hot summers, and then it is these vests that come to your rescue. They maintain your professional look and yet provide an additional flare.

Vests of different materials are available in the market like those made of pure silk or a blend of silk and wool. Vests also vary in style. Some are perfect for professional settings whereas others are good for casual days. You should definitely choose the formal ones. Just like you had to consider some points before choosing your business suit, the same goes for vests too. Your job position as well as work atmosphere would obviously be the major deciding factors. The summer vest should match the tie you are wearing so that it looks good on you. It should also go with the rest of your clothing. As vest is not a very common choice of workwear, you should choose it wisely lest you land up in an embarrassing situation. With a little effort, you can look summer cool but nevertheless, professional.

A few rules about what should you wear to a job interview

When we talk about company apparel, we take into account not only the business clothing that you wear to office everyday but also that clothing which you should wear to your job interview. If you are really serious about getting a good job, then it is better to keep a few things in mind. The aim is to create an amazing first impression, which can work wonders more often than not. These rules have become quite common in the corporate world and are referred to as “dress for success.”

Firstly, whatever business clothing you wear, don’t forget to include a suit. You can wear suit with pants or skirt, but a business suit is a must. If you are wearing a shirt underneath the suit, make sure the shirt is either white or of some other light color. Shirts with vertical stripes are preferred more as they mirror the male dominated business culture.

The second rule is all about shoes. Never go for open toed shoes or sandals. If you are uncomfortable with very high heels, then avoid it. You should be able to walk properly. Close toed shoes having moderate heels are your best options.

Thirdly, you should always be careful not to wear anything that can send wrong signals to the interviewers. Your company apparel reflects your taste and speaks a lot about you.

Fourthly, avoid wearing anything that is too loose or something in which you are so comfortable that it reflects on your attitude. It often sends wrong message to interviewers that you lack in discipline and that you are self-indulgent. Denim shorts, loose sweaters, jogging suits are a strict no-no.

Fifthly, be careful about the color you choose. Stay away from bold shades like orange, red or green. Blue, gray, beige are the safest colors to be worn to an interview.

Add Flair to your Corporate Wardrobe for this Winter Season with Scarves and Cravats

Come winter chill and out comes your stock of woolies and warmers. For those men, who have to wear a power suit or business suit to work, it gets a little more confusing about how to rightly accessorize their corporate apparel to suit their professional image.

This is where exquisite cravats as well as scarves play a vital role in your power wardrobe. Silk cravats look excellent when teamed with good suits. These are ideal to be worn beneath shirts and can be worn as evening cravats as well as day cravats also. They serve as a good alternative to ties. When it comes to cravats, do not opt for any other material than silk. Handmade cleverly from super-soft silk, these silk cravats come in polka dots, dobby prints, paisley prints and even geometric lines. Most preferable though, of all these options are the cravats which come in polka prints or paisley prints. They look distinguished, sophisticated as well as somber.

Other important winter accessory for men is a scarf. They add style as well as panache to any man’s winter wardrobe. They can be used as accessories to be worn to work as well as adorn your evening out. Scarves look good with suits as well. Normally scarves which are made out of Italian silk and have longer fringes at the ends look more apt for your evening wardrobe. They can even be used as accessories for office parties. Adding a touch of chic to your bow tie and suit, you can use scarves for a further flair. Scarves which can be used for office wear can be printed with polka dots, paisleys or geometric patterns or can even be in plain solid colors.

Corporate Suits- Simple Tips to Help You Select Suits which ‘suit’ Tall and Skinny Frames

If you believe that skinny men look good in almost anything…well, you are wrong! Ask them to sport a suit in lighter fabrics and see for yourself how it appears to be hanging from their lean frames. Heavier fabrics like wools, tweed, worsted wools, etc are more ideal for you if you are tall and ‘lanky’. Also lighter colors add volume to your appearance and do avoid vertical stripes as they will only add the illusion of height.

Invest in a good jacket with three buttons as this is ideal for men who are tall, more so those with ‘longer’ torsos. You can either choose to opt out of “vents” in your jackets or play safe with a single vent. You need to look fuller than you are and it does not create a good impression if your clothes when worn by you, look as if they have been hung from a clothes-hanger.

For men with longer legs which look like they would go on and on….go for pants with longer rise. This implies that the distance between the waistband of your pants and the crotch should be more than normal. This will give you a fairly proportionate look. As for accessories, do not go for shoes that make you look taller. Your shirts should also be in lighter hues and do not ignore the fact that striped shirt will make you look leaner than you already are.

A fitted suit has no substitute and shorter hems as well as sharp lines are ‘in’. So, do invest in a power suit which makes you look your part in this game of power dressing!

The Key to Success when Appearing for a ‘Creative’ Job Interview

Working in the finance or banking sector is not the same as working for the media or publishing sector. These creative jobs require working odd hours and racking one’s brain for new, innovative ideas. If you are from this field and have to appear for a job interview, there are certain pre-requisites you must keep in mind.

The basics that matter with all corporate work wear when you appear for a job interview also apply here. Keep yourself tidy and well groomed. Use a deodorant and keep your fingernails trimmed and clean. Ensure that there is no body odor or bad breathe. While a business suit might not be essential for you if you are from the creative field, jeans or denims are a strict ‘no-no’. Steer clear of corporate casual attire or casual wear that you would normally prefer wearing for weekend outings with friends. You must keep the color coordination also traditional. That is to say that you must not experiment with loud and vividly bright colors. Opt for shirts with stripes or checks. Wear well ironed trousers in sober colors. You can opt for those with a plain front and yes, cardigans will also do.

If the weather is a little cooler, you can try sporting twill trousers and match it up with an under-collar sweater in muted tones. Sneakers do not look too good and since it’s your first impression that counts, you should rather opt for shoes with tie-up laces, loafers or even suede boots. Even if you know that the company where you are appearing for an interview prefers corporate casuals, when you are visiting the place for a job interview, do not dress in casuals and make an attempt to impress the interview panel with your work attire and your professionalism.
